Acquired as Niderviller; this attribution was questioned by Dr Hans Hang; reattributed to Meillonnas by Emile Dreyfus (see his 'Note realative aux faience a fond jaune ade Meillonnas', Freunde du Schweizer Keramik Mitteillungsblatt, no. 24, July 1953). For a similar plate attributed to Meillonas and dated to about 1765 see Galeries nationales du Grand Palais, Paris, exhibition catalogue, 'Faïences Françaies, XVIe-XVIIIe siècles', 1980, cat. 126., where it is noted that Sceaux also made similar wares.
