Hemi-spherical bowl on a tall foot-ring (diameter 14 cm, height 6.5 cm); the exterior and interior transfer-printed in dark red with a repeating motif of a tulip plant with leaves which has been over-painted with washes of pale enamels; the rim and foot-ring are picked out with bands of gilding (the former now rubbed).
The base has the printed factory mark in iron red of the imperial eagle (indicating the imperial warrant) above the St George and the dragon (for Moscow), the latter contained within an oval band with the factory name and Moscow in Cyrillic, which in turn is above an inscription in Arabic Printed pattern number '537.' in dark red enamel below factory mark
