Object history
Historical significance: Both gauntlets are from several armours made for Infante Fernando and his brothers, the sons of Philip III of Spain. The armours are preserved in the Real Armeria, Madrid.

The gauntlets were bequeathed to the Museum by J.G. Joicey in 1919. They had previously been bought from the Breadalbane Collection at Christie's, London, 5th July 1917, lot 97.
