Gallery label | The Victorian Tapestry Workshop was established by the Victorian Government in 1976 to enable the weaving of tapestries in Australia for artists and collectors. Workshop weavers are trained as fine artists, which enables them to form a special collaboration with the contemporary artists whose work they translate. Heron, famed for his direct response to the elemental forms of landscape, represented Great Britain at the first Sydney Biennale, in the Opera House. This is one of two tapestries made from Sydney gouaches by the Workshop.(01/02/2004) |
