This is one of a group of German traditional toys which were made in the 1900s, but were based on old designs. This pull along toy is in the form of a cuckoo bird on wheels. The carved wooden bird is attached to leather bellows which are operated by pressing down the bird's tail. There are many examples of toys like these in the trade books of the time.

Physical description
A cuckoo on wheels with leather bellows. The bird is of carved wood painted dark red, with black, yellow, pink and blue. Bellows are of white leather and are operated by pressing down the bird's tail. Base of green, white and blue painted wood with four wooden wheels.
