Place of origin

This glazed earthenware figure is of a state official wearing a green robe. It was made using moulds and the lead glaze common in China from the late 6th century. The wide-sleeved belted over-robe was a typical dress of the time. His hat has a depiction of a small bird, probably an indication that he was charged with the duties of hunting activities of the imperial family.
