A knitted carrying cord for a sword used by a man of one of the hill tribes of Kachin State northern Burma. Wool. Patterned with bands of pink, green and white finished with a long fringe of fine red braid, cotton tassels and strung cowries. c. early 20th century.

Object history
The knitted cord is wound tightly several times around the upper part of the scabbard and slung diagonally across the shoulder.
