Object history | Registered File number 1987/1657. A large table cloth en suite with this napkin is in the collection, T.111-1932, with information concerning its design by James Balfour, and manufactured in the hand-loom factory of Kinnis, Bruce Street, Dunfermline. The cloth and napkins were made for sale by P & R Wright, Edinburgh. The lack of any reference to war in the design makes it possible this was a weaving from the period of Wellington's political rather than military career, though crossed swords occur on the related table cloth (T.111-1932). |
