| Object history | A small range of teenage dolls with shaped feet were produced by Pedigree from 1955. Some had moveable waists and flexible vinyl heads and bodies. Miss Annie, Miss Susan, Miss Wendy and Miss Yvonne were the names for 16in and 19in dolls. Historical significance: These teenage dolls, a number of which were made in the 1950s by various companies, pre-date Barbie by Mattel. They wore fashionable clothes and undergarments and were popular with children. |
| Historical context | The doll and clothing were given to the donor by a person who actually worked in the Pedigree factory in Merton, South London. Staff were able to acquire at a reduced price most of the dolls and toys. |
