Object history | Given by Mrs. Carew in memory of Mr. Farquahar Matheson From about 1860, Viennese goldsmiths became known for their enamels, often used as a setting for engraved crystal, glass or jewels. Ratzersdorfer was perhaps the key exponent of such pieces. His work became known in Britain after he showed at the Great Exhibition of 1851. |
