Elizabeth (1596-1662), was the sister of Charles I of England. This bust is a second version of one paired with a portrait of her hsband, King Frederick V, in the collection of H.R.H. the Prince of Hanover. It was one of the first commissions recevied by the sculptor after he had left England for the Hague, where the Queen was living in exile.

Physical description | Bust, marble. The subject is shown looking to her half-right. She wears a firnged gown which is caught on her left shoulder with a circular clasp. Her hair falls in ringlets over the ears and is drawn back over the top of the head and arranged at the back in a circle of plaits. Inscribed on the front of the base: AELIS. REG/ BOH/ FIL. JAC. REX. MAG. BRIT. 1641. |
