This triangular box contained sand for drying ink. Its sides are formed of three plaquettes showing St George and the Dragon, Nessus and Deianira, and Cupid afloat on his quiver. Andrea Riccio was a leading sculptor and bronze specialist working in Padua, where the university played an important role in the study of antiquity.
