Object history
Included in the exhibition held to celebrate 25 years of Queensberry, V&A.M., 1992. This colour range was in production for a short time only. The wide variations which are typical of the tenmoku glaze are normally regarded as part of its attraction and are especially suitable for "one-off" pieces. In commercial production, these variations appeared too unpredictable and were therefore thought to be less acceptable to the customer by the company. The shape was also produced from 1978 with painted decoration by the Swedish designer Carl-Harry Stålhane and sold as "Cumulus". Martin Hunt remembers this coffee pot being included in a celebratory exhibition held by B&G (125 years?) (Letter from M.H.13.7.93). Described as Shape 23 in the V&A.M. exhibition and Shape 44 in Walker.
