  • Marked on the stem: ‘W&H’ for Walker and Hall; 'J.E.B.' for John Edward Bingham; lion passant (for sterling standard silver); leopard's head (for the London Assay Office), 'B' (date letter for assay year 1877-78); an incised arrow, the 'broad arrow' symbol to indicate British government property.

Walker and Hall
Marked on the handle with two sponsors' marks: 'W&H' for Walker and Hall, and 'J.E.B.' for John Edward Bingham who was a partner in the business. The handle is also marked sterling, London Assay Office, date letter 'B' for 1877, and an incised arrow, possibly the mark of the workman who produced the fork.
