This bowl and associated dish were perhaps originally a christening gift. The engraved scenes on each, from the fairy tale Red Riding Hood, show that they were intended for a child’s use. The bowl and dish were made by the large and successful manufacturing firm of Edward Barnard and Sons, who supplied retailers all over Britain and abroad with good-quality silver.
