Mrs Celia Lawson Gift
Watch cases were one of the most common forms of silver ownership. Nearly 3 million watchcases were assayed in London in 1900. The Goldsmiths' and Silversmiths' Company devoted 14 pages of their 1896 catalogue to the sale of watches. These ranged in price from £2 10s to £ 200 for a gold repeating chronograph and calendar watch.
