Ward-Jackson, Peter, Italian Drawings Volume II. 17th-18th century, London, 1979, p. 132, illus. The following is the full text of the entry: CONCA, SEBASTIANO (1680-1764) 990 Studies of heads, children's limbs and a hand Black chalk slightly heightened with white 8 3/4 x 11 (222 x 280) D.2268-1885 PROVENANCE Bought 1885 Though bought six years after nos. 991, 992 and 993 [related drawings’ museum numbers: 8505C, 8505B, and 8505A], it came from the same dealer and carried the same incorrect attribution to A. R. Mengs, which suggests that the four drawings, obviously by the same hand, had been together in a group. None of the drawings is by Mengs. Dr S. Rottgen has suggested a tentative attribution to Conca.
