Tie and Packet

1950s (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Neckwear became more colourful and more daring in the 1950s. Parisian tie designs included lively prints inspired by famous works of art or famous landmarks. Ties from Italy were predominantly black and gold, complimenting the fashionable black and gold shantung suits popular there. English neckwear, like this black and gold checked tie designed by Turnbull and Asser, offered a compliment to conservative suiting.
