Object history
This is one of a set of teapots (C.10 to 22-1990) reproduced by the Franklin Mint after examples in the V&A's collections and marketed as the Victoria and Albert Museum Porcelain Teapot Collection. This teapot is copied from a Venetian teapot (Cozzi factory) of about 1771, C.136-1940. An explanatory collectors' card is in the Object Information file, together with an account of the Franklin Mint's marketing strategy. For the display cabinet see C.21-1990.
Production
Probably produced in the Far East. Contract signed with V&A in 1984; first launched in USA in September 1985 and subsequently in the UK.
