Octagonal soup plate of creamware (faïence fine), transfer-printed in black. the well transfer-printed with a landscape identified as 'CHATEAU DE HIGH CLIFF Comté d'Hamps Angleterre' and the flange with wine cups and thyrsi alternating with six-pointed stars (the landscape is after an engraving by William Watts, possibly included in The Seats of the Nobility and Gentry published by Boydell (titlepage dated 1779, but with plates dated 1779-86) after an original watercolour by Adam Callender now at the V&A dated 1783).
