Inscribed in another hand 'A.W. Pugin / 1831' and on label, stuck to back of the mount 'This sketch was taken / out of my book of / sketches. Dec. 1882 / Jane Welby Pugin'.
Object history
Pugin made a number of watercolours during his summer tours of Northern France in 1836 and 1837, and this would seem to be one of them.
