Francis Walker studied art at the Royal Dublish Society and Royal
Hibernian Academy where he received a scholarship to study in
London in 1868. Here he was emplyed by the Dalziel brothers as a
draughtsman on wood, for example, for Cassell's Family Magazine.
Later he also worked for The Graphic and the Illustrated London
News.
Beecham's were one of the largest advertisers in the late 19th
century spending £22,000 in 1884 and £120,000 in 1891. They
particularly focused on seaside images and targeted holiday resorts.
