Place of origin |
This medal depicts Marcus Lutz of Vienna and his wife Katharina and is made by Severin Brachmann (active 1564-1586).
Brachmann was active in Bohemia, especially Prague, as well as in Poland. He settled in Vienna in 1580. He was identified as the author of a group of medals whose common characteristic is the emphasis on costume - particularly high-collared, laced-up jackets; the men tend to have long thin beards, typical of Eastern Europe. His models were of stone, some of which are painted.
