This printed cotton furnishing fabric was produced by the Kent firm of Newman, Smith & Newman in 1911. In the years immediately preceding World War I the company produced a series of block-printed cottons such as this example, where semi-naturalistic clusters of flowers and leaves were packed tightly together in ground-concealing repeats.
