This is a mechanical figure of a violinist, an all metal figure containing a clockwork mechanism in the body. He is dressed in a red felt hat and jacket and blue felt trousers. He is holding a violin in his left hand and a bow in his right. His hair is black wool stuck to his head. When wound up his right arm draws the bow in an irregular pattern. At the same time, the body vibrates slightly causing the figure to move accross the table and turn in circles. The mechanism is wound by a key placed at the centre back. The violinist is in a Schuco cardboard box which is not the original.
