Curry combs were used for combing a horse's mane. This extremely unusual silver example is engraved with the arms of the town of Beverwyk in the Netherlands and inscribed 'Given in Beverwyk, 9th August 1771'.

Object history | Milsted Gift Maker's mark: SW. Date letter M. Alkmaar hall mark, 1771. In the opinion of M. Begeer (1991), the maker is Simon van Welsaden of Middleborg (1st half of 18th century). Alkmaar has no SW. |
