This is a relief made by Peter Rouw in England in 1808. The relief is made of tinted wax and representing William Pitt the Younger (1759-1806).
Peter Rouw (1771-1852) was a successful wax modeller, who specialised in portrait waxes. He was also appointed modeller of gems and cameos to His Royal Highness the Prince Regent.
Pitt (1759-1806), Prime Minister from 1783-1801 and again from 1804-1806, was the son of Thomas Pitt the Elder. He was the youngest-ever Prime Minister at the age of 24 and introduced reforms to reduce the national debt.
