Place of origin

This is the cover of a leaflet detailing the corporate membership scheme offered by the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 1990-1991. The orchestra had recently commissioned a new corporate identity from Rufus Leonard Design Consultants. The brief was to design a ‘mark’ - a combination of a ‘symbol’ and ‘logotype’ (an image and a caption) - to be printed on all the orchestra’s communication material. This print shows the chosen mark, based on a conductor with batons, or music dancing between outstretched arms. This sheet is probably a ‘proof’ - that is, a test print made to ensure that the colours and orientation are as the designer intended.
