Object history | The old cataloguing notes for this object suggested it might be from 'Neu-ersonnene Gold-Schmieds Grillen' or a reverse copy of a plate from that suite. This is not possible as it does not match the five plates of six the museum already has from this suite and we know from de Winter's reverse copies, whose numbering follows that of the original suite, that the 6th plate depicted a horse, not a lion. Moreover, this plate is lettered with an 'e' in the lower right-hand corner where a number usually appears with the plates in 'Neu-ersonnene Gold-Schmieds Grillen'. |
