This plaquette depicting Noah and his family entering the ark was probably made by Hans Jakob Bair in Augsburg in about 1600. This is based on a drawing by Hans Rottenhammer (1564-1625) and is probably a model for one of the reliefs on a silver dish.

Physical description
In the foreground Noah bearded and wrapped in a cloak proceeds to the right accompanied by his wife who carries a bundle. One of his sons with his wife has gone in front, the other two follow Noah with their wives, who carry vases and various objects. In the background a column of animals winding up the ramp into the Ark. The sky is filled with flocks of birds.
