Mount Cer (pronounced Tser) is a mountain situated in Serbia, 100 kilometres west of Belgrade. In 1852 the principality of Serbia was still nominally under Ottoman control, and remained so until 1878. The Serbian Vojvodina to the north was already within the borders of the Austrian Empire.
