This relief representing Christ in the tomb was probably made in the late 15th century South Germany. This is carved in mother of pearl and set in a gilt mount with a twisted edge.

Physical description
The body of Christ with head inclined to the left and arms crossed is being wrapped in the grave-clothes by angels, one flying above and two standing at the sides, holding the drapery across the lower part of the body. The relief is thick and concave. On the back of the gilt metal mount is a roughly engraved Christ on the Cross INRI above, On one side the letters C.A. on the other D.E. The mount has a twisted edge; one flat ring at the top (the other is missing).
