Place of origin

Men wear bow ties on both formal and informal occasions. Traditionally, black and white bow ties are formal evening wear. For day wear, however, men could – and still do – wear bow ties in brilliant colours and flamboyant shapes. An example is this bright pink bow tie, which has a flourish of hand-painted squiggles.
