Object history | The Brantjes factory was established in 1894-5 by Petronella Eleonora Maria Clementina van Rijn (1849-1917), the widow (Weduwe) of Nicolaas S.A.Brantjes, on the site of her husband's fireproof brick factory. Her associate in this venture was Egbert Estié (1865-about 1910) who left three years later to begin the Zuid-Holland factory at Gouda. This dish, with variations of the pattern, was made in some quantities. It shows the Brantjes production at its stylish best in the floral Art Nouveau manner. |
