Tile of white earthenware, formed from plastic clay. The back is "combed" to provide keying and there are the remnants of pegs protruding from the back of the tile, which would originally have been present in each corner. The tile is decorated with an underglaze transfer print of a landscape, showing a ruined gothic building and a sailing boat. This is printed in blue.

Object history | The tile was formerly in the collection of Ken Beaulah, and was purchased from a sale of his collection at Bonhams, Knightsbridge, 25 January 1995. Historical significance: This tile was made prior to the late 19th century tile-making boom. |
