Object history | Costume designed by Stefanos Lazaridis for a Peasant in Mozart's opera Don Giovanni for the Royal Opera in 1973. It is an excellent example of theatrical costume making, using typical furnishing fabrics of the 1970s. The maker is likely to have been Alice Maitland Rawlings, who worked at the costumiers, Bermans & Nathans, in the 1960s and 1970s, and was a colleague and friend of Lazaridis. She mainly worked on historical costumes, carrying out much of her research at the V&A. |
