Object history | Original typewritten label stapled to the lining of the display tray: '2.10 Gates removed with abrasive wheel. Excess metal removed with file, saw and/or wheel' The first part of this description appears to be incorrect. The gates had been removed before the brooch elements were tumbled in steel shot. This interpretation is supported by a typescript which has come with the tray which describes the making of a different Trifari brooch, but which states that the gates are removed before tumbling. |
