Originally published in London by Whistler at 62 Sloane Street and in Paris at Imprimerie Delâtre, Rue St. Jacques 171. This impression published in ‘English Etchings’ in 1886-1888. Signed in plate by the artist. The Mustard Seller: perspective through a doorway into an interior where a woman with a white bonnet is at work with a variety of pots and containers on the counter before her. In the foreground, a young girl leans against the doorway in profile.

Object history | Impression from English Etchings vol.vii, 1886-8, plate 9. Kennedy No.22, 5th state. The name and address of Delâtre are removed. The editor of 'English Etchings' bought the plate in 1886 and issued two hundred impressions in this state. |
