During the 14th century, the commercial production of tiles took place at a number of sites in the English Midlands. At Nottingham, inlaid tiles were manufactured alongside pottery. Decorated with Gothic foliage, this fine 16-tile set was produced by the Nottingham workshop, and formed part of a floor at Ulverscroft Priory, Leicestershire.
