Large rectangular garment with a shoulder strap (L. 81.3 cm.) made from two lengths of cloth (223 cm x 66 cm.) stitched along the weft edges
Red ground interrupted by a series of black, green, white and red coloured warp bands which form a frame for supplementary weft patterning of green; red and white diamonds and yellow zig-zag motifs. These stripes are bisected at intervals (four times), by bands of yellow woven in a diamond twill weave.

Object history
Believed to have been acquired by the donor's father while he was resident in Burma during the second half of the 1930s.
Historical context
Fine example of a Chin blanket. (Noel Singer 2003) Traditional costume for the Chin male - it is worn around the body and under the right arm, with the excess tossed over the left shoulder.
