Dean's Co. made this bear. The company was founded in 1903, the same year as the very first teddy bear was made. Dean's were famous for their rag sheets and rag books early in the 20th century. The company still makes teddies and gave this bear to the V&A. It has a special bag made of calico to keep it clean and new.

Golden mohair plush teddy made in Britain by Deans Co (1903) Ltd in 1987
Physical description
Short golden mohair plush fully jointed teddy bear. The eyes are plastic and the nose and mouth stitched with black wool. The paw pads are made of a brown synthetic material. There is a red ribbon around the neck and the bear has a printed calico bag.
