The bright blue longyi (a tube like skirt) is formed unusually with two vertical lengths and two vertical seams. The longyi is attached in the usual way to a cotton waistband, in this case black. The spare material is lapped over to the left and tucked in at the waist forming a pleat.

Woman's bright blue longyi with a black cotton waistband. Made in Burma for a European woman - probably the mother of the donor. c. 1935 to 1939.

Object history
This unusually long garment is believed to have been made for the donor's mother during her time in Burma in the 1930s.
