The Spice Girls brought Girl Power to the 1990's. The manufactured girl band signed to Virgin Records in 1995. Their first single 'Wannabe' was released in July 1996, it was an instant hit and made the girls famous all over the world. During there time together the band achieved seven number 1 UK hits. The Spice Girls marketing strategy was aimed at young children under 10, and had a huge influence on the play ground.
