Gallery label
Sir Roy Strong, who is much admired for his stylish appearance, combined a number of elements to create this distinctive evening outfit. The three-piece suit was tailor-made using a Hunting Campbell tartan from Beauly, near Inverness and chocolate-brown velvet trimmed with ribbon. It has the wide lapels and narrow trousers that were modish in the late 1960s and early '70s. Sir Roy stopped wearing the outfit around 1974 when fashion for decorative evening wear declined.(1997)
