Sports and dancewear have greatly influenced underclothes since the late 1970s; the body and bandeau-style bra are now standard. Postwar synthetics have revolutionised underwear. The newly developed 'silky' nylon material known as Tactel is durable and allows the skin to breathe.(1997)
