The Buddha is depicted seated with the legs closely interfolded in the padmasana (lotus) position with the right hand placed palm upward, resting on the right leg, in the bhumisparsa (earth or witness attitude) on a plain ovoid base. The left hand rests in the lap palm upward. Lobes of the curving ears touch the shoulder. The tightly curled hair, which rises to a ushnisha (topknot), is bound by a broad shaped sparkling red, green and white fillet. The folds of the monastic robe fall in generous folds down his chest and over the base. His right shoulder and arm are bare.

Claimed by the donor to have been taken from the altar of a Temple near Rangoon. C. Stanley-Clarke (assistant-keeper and keeper of the Indian Museum during the 1920's) thought it was a good example of thayo decorated Rangoon work of the early 19th century.
