This is from a series of kisses entitled ‘Lipstick Kiss’ by the model Kate Moss, pressed onto archive card sheets, complete with her embossed signature. Here Moss, instead of modeling for an image, makes the image herself. ‘Lipstick Kiss’ makes an everyday event – a quick kiss – into a multiple artwork, which communicates both intimacy and glamour.
‘Lipstick Kiss’ is included in a limited-edition box set of prints and photographs, published by SHOWstudio in 2001. The set consists of a range of works by a variety of creatives, from photographers to pop stars, and the works – a collection of art, artifacts and fashion ephemera – are exclusive to this set. The mix of media and creative practitioners involved in this portfolio reflects the SHOWstudio project’s interest in contemporary image-making, fashion and multimedia. It could be described as a time capsule or a modern archive.
