It is probable that the diamond Argyle pattern was derived from tartan cloth. Since the 1920s, it has been used extensively for hosiery and sweaters and is usually worked in two or three colours. Argyle designs consistently feature in the Pringle collections. This sweater is made in luxurious cashmere, which is both warm and extremely light.(1997)
