In the early 1970s Mr. Freedom led the young fashion pack into bright, brash and fun clothes. This sweater updates Schiaparelli's famous trompe l'oeil 'cravat' jumper of 1927.

'TIE' SWEATER
Machine-knitted wool
British; Mr Freedom, 1970

Long sleeved sweater in stocking stitch with ribbed collar, cuffs and lower edge. The intarsia tie creates an illusion comparable with Schiaparelli's 'cravat' design of over forty years earlier.
