Stamped with a deeply sunk, low relief impression from a mould. In the middle Gautama Buddha seated upon a lotus throne in the bhumisparsa attitude, beneath a pointed arch surmounted by an umbrella, the whole resting upon a lion. He is adored by men and animals. Around the Buddha are the following seven small subjects. l. His birth in the Lumbini Grove. 2. His first sermon in the Deer park, near Benares. 3. ?The subjugation of Nalagiri the elephant. 4. Buddha's decease, or Paranirvana. 5. The conversion of Apalala, the Naga King. 6. Buddha ? preaching. 7. Maitreya, the coming Buddha
